Basement waterproofing

Basements are imperfect concrete structures built on soils that vary from one region to another. The infiltration of water into basements is a problem that affects homeowners for over 100 years. This water enters the basement through the walls, floors and joints between them.

There are several solutions, including:

* Excavation outside
* Subfloor within
* System inside plinth
* Sealant negative side

One of the best solutions, among them, is to install either a drainage system within the sub-floor or baseboard drainage system around the perimeter of the floor. This method has, however, some difficulties.

CONSTRAINTS

* an old concrete is not always completely waterproof or waterproof outer is not sufficient

* concrete can be localized defects such as cracks, construction joints, gravel nests ...

* ... or may break due to corrosion of steel

* wall strength with the passage of water is not always sufficient, especially in the case of temporary water inflow

* interior surfaces wet. Coatings degrade the appearance of salts is favored.
